DEMONSTRATION ALERT: U.S. Embassy Luanda, Angola (November 11, 2020)
Location: Estrada de Catete, between the Cemetery of Santa Ana and Largo de Independencia.
Event: Demonstrations are expected to take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 against the high cost of living in Angola, unemployment, and in support of municipal elections. Current estimates suggest at least 2000 people. The rally is planned and promoted by the same organizations that planned the protest on October 24, 2020, when there were interactions between the police and the protesters that included tear gas, reports of violence, and arrests. There are other protests planned in Lubango, Huambo and Benguela.
