As of August 18, there are no confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Angola. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued Travel Health Notices warning against nonessential travel to Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone, and advising travelers to practice enhanced precautions when traveling to Nigeria.
For more information please see the CDC Travel Health Notices page of the CDC website. The CDC website also provides extensive background information about Ebola Virus Disease, including answers to frequently asked questions and the latest news about the outbreak in West Africa.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also published information on the Ebola outbreak on its website.
We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Angola enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at travel.state.gov. STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you don’t have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy.
Regularly monitor the State Department’s website, where you can find current Travel Warnings, Travel Alerts, and the Worldwide Caution. Read the Country Specific Information for Angola. For additional information, refer to the “Traveler’s Checklist” on the State Department’s website.
Contact the U.S. embassy or consulate for up-to-date information on travel restrictions.
