The U.S. Embassy in Angola is pleased to announce that our community, led by Ambassador Helena La Lime, will again take part in the annual World AIDS Day March. The march, organized by Angola’s Network of Aids Services Organizations (ANASO) and the National AIDS Institute (INLS), will take place on Saturday November 29, in Luanda in advance of the World AIDS Day, December 1. It will start at the Cidadela stadium and end at the Largo da Família at the Independence Square. Through the Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and in partnership with the Angolan Ministry of Health and the National AIDS Institute, the American people invest nearly $17.7 million dollars annually in support of Angola’s effort to combat the disease. Participating in this important march is another way we stand side-by-side with Angolans. When there are no more new infections, deaths or discrimination, then Angola can say that we have achieved an AIDS-free generation.
