Grants Session Preparation – In person

Applying for a Federal Grant on 

Launch APS (Annual Program Statement) 

Date: February 22 

Time: 09:30 am to 12pm

Place: U.S. Embassy in Luanda

Purpose: This clarification session serves to provide general information on grant application to prospective grantees. This includes individuals currently collaborating with PDS, those who previously attempted but were unsuccessful in their applications, and potential new candidates. The goal is to help them understand the eligibility criteria needed for a successful application. Additionally, the session will outline the programs aligned with our Mission Goals, ensuring clarity on which initiatives are funded by the program. 


  • Increase the quantity and quality of applications for the grants program in FY 2024  
  • Reduce the number of uncompleted applications.  
  • Inform the audience about the eligibility criteria to apply for the PDS awards.  
  • Inform the audience about the long-lasting impact of USG programs and priorities. 
  • Facilitate networking among the audience. 
  • Continuous engagement with former a successful grantee. 

Priority Program Areas for Angola 

  • Artistic and cultural programs, joint performances, and exhibitions involving the work of American artists or American subjects 
  • Cultural heritage conservation and preservation programs. 
  • Programs that expand American Corners and American Spaces activities. 
  • Professional and academic exchanges and programs.  
  • Media training. 
  • Programs developed by an alumnus/a of a U.S.-government sponsored educational or 
  • professional exchange program. 
  • Experiential learning activities (e.g., Model UN, Model Government).
