Subject: HEALTH ALERT: U.S. Embassy, Luanda (April 20, 2020)
Location: Angola (countrywide)
Event: The Angolan Ministry of Health has confirmed 24 cases of COVID-19 in Angola.
Information on repatriation flights departing Luanda:
Angolan borders remain closed and there are very few flights departing. U.S. citizens who live in Angola should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.
The below list represents private travel agencies offering repatriation flights to Europe. The Embassy is making this list available to help our citizens who are interested in returning to the U.S.; we do not endorse any of the companies on this list. U.S. citizens interested in leaving Angola can contact these companies directly for more information or for ticketing.
Additionally, AirFrance plans to operate flights from Luanda to Paris on April 28, May 16, and June 16. We do not yet have confirmation on the price of these flights, but interested citizens should contact us for more information.
Please note that due to travel restrictions and limited availability of connecting flights, passengers should purchase their onward connecting flights to the U.S. prior to departing Angola. Repatriation loans may be available for U.S. citizens who do not have the funds to purchase tickets.
Interested parties should verify that their passports and other documentation are current and valid for at least six months from today’s date.
