Location: Angola (countrywide)
Event: The U.S. Embassy in Luanda is able to offer interested parties seats on an Ethiopian Airlines flight leaving Luanda for Addis Ababa and continuing on to Washington, D.C.
The flight is expected to leave on Sunday, April 5 at 1:30p.m., with a connection to Dulles International Airport leaving that same day at 10:40p.m. We expect the cost to be approximately $1,340 from Luanda to Addis and $2,740 from Addis to Washington, D.C., for a total fare of $4,080. Anyone interested in taking this flight will arrange payment directly with Ethiopian Airlines.
We are also currently working on another flight that will possibly leave the following week, with a connection in Kinshasa. We do not have times or prices for that flight at present.
We are currently in the process of reaching out directly to U.S. citizens who have stated that they are interested in repatriation. If you would like to travel, please ensure that you have filled out this repatriation form for each individual in your party. If you have already filled out this form, there is no need to fill it out again. Repatriation loans may be available for U.S. citizens who do not have the funds to pay for the flight; please contact us immediately at ConsularLuanda@state.gov if you are in this situation.
Please do not travel to the airport until you have received notification from the U.S. Embassy with confirmed flight details. We realize that travel within Angola is difficult under the Presidential Declaration and we are hoping to provide documentation that passengers can show Angolan officials as they head to the airport for this flight.
Interested parties should verify that their passports and other documentation are current and valid for at least six months from today’s date.
