HEALTH ALERT: U.S. Embassy, Luanda

Event:  The embassy strongly urges those who wish to return to the United States to leave at the first opportunity.  We cannot predict future flight availability if you choose to wait, and we do not know when normal commercial airline service will resume in Angola.

The Embassy is working on options for U.S. citizens wishing to depart Angola via specially arranged commercial flights on Ethiopian Airlines.  Specifically, one option would leave this Sunday, April 5, with service to Washington, D.C. via Addis Ababa.  Another flight would leave next week with exact routing to be determined.  Confirmation of both flights will depend on the number of confirmed passengers we can guarantee, as will the final price.

We will update you frequently as we find out more information about departure options.

If you are interested, please contact us immediately by filling out our repatriation form.  If you have already filled out the form, please email us at ConsularLuanda@state.gov.  Understand that evacuation flights are not free-of-charge and are, in fact, frequently more expensive than commercial travel.

Interested parties should verify that their passports and other documentation are current and valid for at least six months from today’s date.  For emergency American Citizen Services, including emergency passports, please visit our website for additional information at https://ao.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/
