The 2023 U.S. Diversity Visa (DV Lottery) Program has officially ended worldwide. The Department of State has issued all available diversity visas for the DV-2023 Program. We recognize that the early conclusion of the 2023 Program may be disappointing to those 2023 selectees who were unable to receive a visa. Interviews for the 2024 Diversity Visa Program will begin in October 2023. In addition, the 2025 Diversity Visa Program entry period will open in early October, and we encourage all who are eligible to apply.
Being selected for the Program does not guarantee that an applicant will receive a visa interview or a visa. Selection means that the person may be eligible to participate in the Diversity Visa program and may have a chance to apply for a visa. Because some of the first 55,000 persons selected will not qualify for visas or will choose not to participate in the program, more individuals are selected to participate in the program each year than visas available. This process increases the likelihood that all 55,000 visas are used.
The Department of State remains committed to facilitating travel for individuals from countries, such as Angola and Sao Tome and Principe, with low rates of immigration to the United States. We recognize the important contributions diversity brings to U.S. communities and to the U.S. economy.
